ABOUT DANITA TOLSON

Dr. Danita Tolson is an accomplished nursing leader with over 30 years of experience in education, clinical practice, research, and community engagement. She holds a BSN, MSN, a Doctorate in Education and Curriculum Instruction, and an MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner. For ten years, she served as Undergraduate Nursing Chair at Coppin State University, mentoring students, guiding NCLEX success, and supporting scholarly research projects across multiple academic programs.
Dr. Tolson has completed advanced leadership training at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and through national nursing leadership fellowships. Her work includes publications and presentations on mentorship, instructional technology, nursing education, minority health disparities, and cancer prevention. She has led major community health initiatives, coordinated annual health symposiums, and secured more than $125,000 in grants to support public health programs.
Her commitment to service extends through her leadership roles with the NAACP, Governor’s Racial Disparities Overdose Task Force, HRSA, and regional health organizations. Dr. Tolson continues to be a champion for health equity, nursing diversity, and community empowerment.
